Photos of Castle Rock Colorado Starlighting Fireworks with Pikes Peak​. Located below are photographs from the November 2024 Castle Rock Starlighting Celebration. Colorful pink clouds and blue skies with a dusting of snow on Pikes Peak are featured in the first photo of our gallery located below. The Town of Castle Rock Starlighting has been a popular community event dating back to 1936. In the spirit of volunteerism and generosity the Starlighting tradition is celebrated downtown on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. We try to photograph the star lighting with unique approach each time we are fortunate enough to attend. This year we found a more unique perspective of the festivities from a bluff slightly above the town. The event was held on November 23, 2024 and each year is attended by people from all across Douglas County and the Colorado Front Range.

Gear Used to Capture Photos of Castle Rock CO Starlighting Firework Celebration

The following camera gear was used in the Landscape Photography of the Annual Castle Rock Colorado Starlighting Fireworks:

• a Nikon Z7II with a Really Right Stuff L-Bracket,
• the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens (with Really Right Stuff Foot),
• a Really Right Stuff TVC 34L tripod,
• with a Really Right Stuff BH-50 LR Ballhead,
• Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord (in Bulb Mode),
• the F-Stop Gear Aloe Green Tilopa 50L Back Pack (with large Pro ICU),

More Photo Details

All of these images were taken in Manual Exposure mode with the Nikon Z7II on a tripod. We also used the camera’s bulb mode along with a cable release. On the Nikon Z7, the exposures averaged between 10 seconds at f/10 (sunset photo before fireworks) and 6-8 seconds at f/9. The focal length use on the Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 S lens was approximately 103mm. All photos were processed using Adobe Lightroom CC Classic and Adobe Photoshop. We used Photoshop’s generative fill in the bottom area of the images to fill in the grassy areas.
