Castle Rock CO Winter Landscape Photographs: Landscape Photographs of Castle Rock Colorado in the Winter. A dramatic bow cloud can be seen floating in the sky above Castle Rock in several of these Winter morning photographs. These types of rare clouds happen only a few times a year. The fresh snow and colorful skies make for stunning landscape views of Castle Rock in these images. In the first two images you can see the star over the Rock lit up with a thin horizontal blue line, paying tribute to a fallen police officer who tragically lost his life in the line of duty. These mid to later Winter photos of Castle Rock Colorado were taken at sunrise from January to March in 2018.

Gear Used to Photograph Castle Rock Colorado Winter Sunrise
The following camera gear was used in the Colorado Landscape Winter Photography of Sunrise in Castle Rock:
- a Nikon D810 with MB-D12 Battery Grip,
- Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 50 v2.0,
- and a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR,
These Winter morning photos were all hand held. The exposures for the sunrise images averaged between 1/25 of a second to 1/80 second at f/8 to f/4. We used the D810’s Auto ISO setting when taking these photos. The ISO ranged from 64 up to 3200. Most of the photos were processed from single exposures. Some of these images were created by combining 3 exposures at one full stop apart in Adobe Lightroom. This HDR process was done in order to capture the high dynamic range of the early morning winter light. The very wide panoramic photos were created by stitching 12 or more vertical images together in Adobe Lightroom CC Classic.
