These mid to later Winter photos of Castle Rock Colorado were taken at sunrise and sunset from January to March in 2019.

Gear Used to Photograph Castle Rock Colorado Winter Landscape Images

The following camera gear was used in the Landscape Photography of Castle Rock Colorado Winter of 2019:

• a Nikon D850 with MB-D18 Battery Grip,
• Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 50 v2.0,
• a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4 VR G,
• the Sony RX100 MVI.
• and the iPhone XS Max,
• a Gitzo CF6X Mountaineer 2 tripod (GT2530),
• with a Really Right Stuff BH-40 LR Ballhead.

The Winter morning photos were all hand held while the sunset photos were taken on a tripod. The exposures for the sunrise images averaged between 1/15 of a second to 1/200 second at approximately f/7.1 to f/16. We used the D850’s Auto ISO setting when taking the hand held photos. The ISO ranged from 64 up to 800. Most of the photos were processed from single exposures. Some of these images were created by combining 3 exposures at one full stop apart in Adobe Lightroom. This HDR process was done in order to capture the high dynamic range of the early morning winter light. The very wide panoramic photos were created by stitching 12 or more vertical images together in Adobe Lightroom CC Classic.
