Colorado Photos Moraine Park Valley Rocky Mountain National Park. As we wrapped up our trip in and around Many Parks Curve we headed back down Trial Ridge Road. At a location just above Moraine Park we noticed the dramatic play of rolling clouds and light over the snowy Continental Divide. We hastily pulled over got our cameras and tripods with long lenses to capture the B&W images shown here. After we grabbed few frames we headed back down Trail Ridge Road and headed over to Moraine Park. The willows growing along the banks of the Big Thompson River still retain their fall colors even though it Spring time in Rocky. These photos taken from Trail Ridge Road and Moraine Park Valley in Rocky Mountain National Park were taken between 7:33am and 8:55am on May 10, 2019.

Gear Used to Photograph Moraine Park Valley in Rocky Mountain National Park

These color and black and white landscape photos were captured in May of 2019 just after an evening snow storm. The following camera gear was used in the Landscape Photography of Moraine Park Valley and the Continental Divide in Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado:

Dramatic B&W Photo of Continental Divide from Moraine Park Valley

  • the Nikon Z7 with a Really Right Stuff L-Bracket,
  • NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S lens,
  • an AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR lens,
  • a Nikon Mount Adapter FTZ for use of 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR lens,
  • a Really Right Stuff TVC 34L tripod,
  • with a Really Right Stuff BH-50 LR Ballhead,
  • and a F-Stop Gear Aloe Green Tilopa 50L Back Pack (with large Pro ICU).

These photos were all taken on the Really Right Stuff tripod and the BH-50 Ballhead. Our Z7 exposures with the 24-70 S Zoom lens are 1/125 a second at F/14 and about 53 to 70mm. Our Z7 exposures with the 70-200 lens averaged between 1/400 of a second to 1/500 of a second at f/9 and f/11 and 135mm to 200mm.  We used the Z7’s native ISO of 64. The closer photos of the Continental Divide were shot at 200mm. All images (color and B&W) are single exposures and processed only in Adobe Lightroom Classic CC.
