First Light Hallett Peak Lake Haiyaha Rocky Mountain National Park

Photo of First Light on Hallett Peak near Lake Haiyaha in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park. Here you will see photographs of Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain reflecting on a two different Alpine Tarns fed from Lake Haiyaha in Rocky Mountain National Park. Visible within the images are an abundance of boulders and rock formations. In fact, “Haiyaha” is a Native American word that means “rock” or “lake of many rocks”, or “big rocks”. This word appropriately describes this secluded, boulder-riddled lake in lower Chaos Canyon. The hike to this area from the Bear Lake trailhead was appropriately 4 miles round trip and about 820 feet gain in elevation (9,470′ – 10,290′). These sunrise photos of Hallett Peak near Lake Haiyaha were taken on August 30th between 7:15am and 7:50am.
