About the North American T-28C, Sherry Berry

Used by SVNAF. Shipped to SE Asia under operation “Water Pump”, a CIA operation against the NVA. Top Specifications Registration Number Date of Manufacture N4168E 1956 Aircraft Role Nickname Fighter Bomber in South East Asia Tango 28 “Sherry Berry”.

This aircraft was one of two bought by a museum restored and sold to pay for the other. New paint scheme done summer of 2012 in Bartow, Florida by Aircraft Paint and Supply. “Sherry Berry” is painted in South Vietnam Air Force, 1st Air Division colors due to her role in SE Asia.

In 1955, the Navy needed a T-28 that could be used for carrier qualification, thus the C model was designed. The C was equipped with an arresting hook or tail hook, a beefed-up tail section and beefed-up landing gear. Its prop blades were shortened for carrier deck clearance.
