Panoramic Photo of Biersradt Lake RMNP Colorado Colorful Sunrise

Photos of Bierstadt Lake Colorful Sunrise RMNP Colorado

Photos of Bierstadt Lake Colorful Sunrise RMNP Colorado. These images are the result of an early morning hike made in summer. On the way up the trailhead we could hear very little in the stillness of the morning darkness. Making our way up the steep but manageable trail the dark outline of the majestic mountains along the Continental Divide could be seen. The weather fully cooperated this day giving us very colorful skies set against a backdrop of high vertical wind blown clouds with snow still visible on the peaks. These exceptional summer conditions and calm lower winds allowed us to capture spectacular views of Bierstadt Lake with crystal clear mountain reflections. These images of Bierstadt Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park were taken between 5:21am and 6:14am on July 7, 2019.

Gear Used to Photograph Bierstadt Lake Sunrise at RMNP

The following camera gear was used in the Landscape Photography of Bierstadt Lake at Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado:

Vertical Photo of Pink Clouds over Biersradt Lake RMNP Colorado at Sunrise

  • a Nikon Z7 with a Really Right Stuff Modular L-Bracket,
  • F-Stop Gear Aloe Green Tilopa 50L Back Pack (with large Pro ICU),
  • a Really Right Stuff TVC-24 Mk2 Apex tripod,
  • the Series 2 Leveling Base,
  • with a Really Right Stuff BH-40 LR Ballhead,
  • the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S lens,
  • and a Nikkor Z 14-30mm f/4 S lens.

These late spring photos were all taken on the Really Right Stuff TVC-24 Mk2 Apex tripod. The Z7 exposures for the images averaged between 1/3 of a second to 1/60 of a second at f/8. We used the Z7’s native ISO of 64. Some of these images were created by combining several exposures at one full stop apart in Adobe Lightroom Classic CC. This HDR process was done in order to capture the high dynamic range of the scene. We also created the wide panoramic landscape photos in Adobe Lightroom by blending 10 separate photos together. This process generated DNG RAW files that are 18,000 to 21,000 pixels wide. In the past we have used a similar process to create vertical panoramic photos from multiple exposures.
