Located below please view our photos of Castle Rock Colorado Mule Deer Family. This family of mule deer frequents an open space wilderness area in Castle Rock. These images were captured early in the morning from December 31, 2016 thru July 22, 2017. Typically we will see a few young bucks accompanied by a young does. In some of the images you will see four young bucks grazing and traveling together. Sometimes will be fortunate to be visited by up a family of six mule deer. The generally like to visit this area after a change in weather. They will visit after after a nice rain, a light snow or on even a chilly early morning.

Gear Used to Photograph the Castle Rock Colorado Mule Deer Family

The camera gear used to photograph the Castle Rock Colorado Mule Deer includes the following;

  • a Nikon D750 with a Nikon MB-D16 Battery Grip,
  • a Nikkor 28-300mm, f/3.5-5.6,
  • and a ThinkTank Digital Holster 40 V2.0,
  • as well as a Sony RX100 III.

The photos using the Nikon D750 we shot at a focal length of 300mm on the Nikkor 28-300mm. On the Sony RX100 the photos were taken at the longest focal length of 100mm. The images were captured in the RAW format and the exposure averaged between 1/125 and 1/160 of a second at f/6.3 to f/5.6 with an ISO of 100 or 400.
