Photos of Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado Fall Colors. Fall in Rocky Mountain National Park is a very special time of the year. The Cottonwood and Aspen trees explode in colors of yellow gold and orange. Even the ground cover lights up in reds, yellows and vibrant rust colors. These brilliant Fall Colors attract visitors from all over the USA and the World. When diving around the park you can spot license plates from as far north as Alaska and south to Florida (lots of red plates from rental cars). These colors are so beautiful many make Rocky Mountain National Park in the Fall an annual pilgrimage. The following camera gear was used in the Landscape Photography of Fall Colors in Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado:
- a Nikon D850 with a Really Right Stuff L-Bracket,
- F-Stop Gear Aloe Green Ajna 40L Back Pack (with large Pro ICU),
- a Gitzo CF6X Mountaineer 2 tripod (GT2530),
- with a Really Right Stuff BH-40 LR Ballhead,
- the Nikkor AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8 lens,
- a Nikkor AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8 FL ED VR lens,
- and the iPhone XS max.
The photo to the right was taken on the iPhone XS Max on a short hike from Trail Ridge Road. We captured this image of an Aspen Gove as the clouds passed overhead giving us beautiful soft diffused light. The D850 exposures for the images averaged between 1/20 of a second to 1/160 of a second at f/10 and f/11. We used the D850’s native ISO of 64. The iPhone XS Max images specs were ISO 16 at 1/160 of a second at f/2.4 hand held. Adobe Lightroom Classic CC is our editing and Digital Asset Management tool of choice. These are all single RAW files processed as DNG files with the exception of the iPhone XS Max photos which are JPEG images.
