Rocky Mountain National Park Fall Colors

Rocky Mountain National Fall Colors. On this page you will see images taken at Bear Lake with fall colors from around the Estes Park area. As we left Rocky Mountain National Park we also captured some images of Mary’s Lake with Longs Peak. Off Highway 7 found a great old cedar wood home surrounded by golden Aspen trees with Longs Peak as a backdrop. The photos of Bear Lake located above were taken in the Autumn on September 21st, 2015 at 8:02am.

September, 2015 marked the 100th Anniversary of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Gear Used to Photograph Rocky Mountain National Park

The camera gear used in the Landscape Photography of Rocky Mountain National Park includes the following; a Nikon D810, a Nikkor 24-70mm, f/2.8, a Nikkor 70-200mm, f/2.8, a Really Right Stuff TVC-34L Tripod (TA-3-QC: Series 3 Quick-Column) with a Really Right Stuff BH-55 LR Ballhead and an Apple iPhone 6 Plus. The 7:30am morning exposures for the Bear Lake images averaged between 1/8 of a second and 1/15 of a second in length at f/22 with a camera ISO of 31. The later morning photos with the colorful Aspen trees necessitated the use of higher shutter speeds due the wind blowing. These images were taken with the Nikkor 24-70mm lens at ISO 31, 1/200 of a second at f/11. A few of images were created by combining 5-7 exposures at one full stop apart so that we could capture the high dynamic range of the scenes.
